A word on the future:

The long term goal is to build a multiplayer network platform game which can best be compared to a crossover of Little Big Adventure, Prince Of Persia and Unreal Tournament. That's the very long term goal, I'm sure you will agree.

To attain this very ambitious goal, the team needs to grow and become financially healthy. Right now we are little more than a happy garage party gone out of control.

BC will stay small and move slow for as long as needs be, and we work on projects that push into atleast one of the technical corners and hurdles that need to come together to build the long term thing. This is why the projects currently in development in this early stage wil be relatively simple and focussed, but very playable, stable, and fun products for you to enjoy nonetheless! (We hope!)

Finally, I would like to make the operational aspect of BC as transparant as possible. This includes organisational aspects, QA, sales and reward systems. More on this later.

What is Binary Colonies?

The first and foremost task of Binary Colonies is to showcase quality entertainment material that can be freely downloaded.

Of course there are quite a few other higher level goals, such as the various learning experiences (organisation, tools, skills, communication, infrastructure, QA..) we go through as we produce material.

Binary Colonies ultimately aims to bring together motivated, talented and passionate game / demo creators in Europe, and collaborate according to - or improve on - industry standards.

Who?

The project was started in 2005 by Ignace Saenen.

Why?

Why build games? Well, there is nothing like being able to say you've created and delivered your first real game! The learning experiences and the pleasure of working in a small group of talented people on cool projects can be extremely rewarding.

While producing the first game, a number of valuable lessons were learned and we got some ideas on how to improve the processes, and of course, to work on more ambitious projects. We want to share this information, and some of it may be published here quite soon.
